How to get PAN Card in 48 hours

Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a ten-digit alphanumeric ID, issued to assessee by the Income Tax Department. Each assessee viz,. individual, firm, trust, company etc. is issued a unique PAN. It is one of the most important number after Aadhaar. It is also used as identity proof.

All assesses, taxpayers or individuals who are required to file a return of income, even a representative assessee must have PAN. Any person, who intends to enter into any financial transactions where quoting PAN is mandatory, must compulsorily have a PAN.

How and where to apply

You can apply for a PAN card by filling in Form 49A (resident) or Form 49AA (Foreign resident). The application can be made online through NSDL website www.tin-nsdl.com.

You can get PAN application form from any NSDL TIN-Facilitation Centre (TIN-FC). You can look for TIN-FC near you from this link or alternatively download it free of cost from the NSDL website by clicking here.

Documents needed

You will need the following:

-2 recent colour photographs with white background (size 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm) which you have to affix in the space provided on the form.

– For ID proof, address proof and proof of date of birth you should have thhese documents that would include your birth certificate, driving license, Aadhaar card, passport, electricity bill and ration card.

– You must also provide your mobile number and email address.

For online application, you must have a digital signature as well.

Fill in all the details in your PAN card application. Ensure that the details are accurate and error free. Once done, submit the application online by paying the fee.

When you are submitting the application, you will have the option to choose between physical card or e-PAN. e-PAN is also equally valid as hard Copy PAN card and is digitally signed for authenticity. Now the PAN card are issued with Enhanced quick response code which can be scanned to verify your PAN details.

Once you submit the form successfully, you will receive an acknowledgement with a unique 15-digit number. You can use this number to track down your status of PAN. Click here to track.

Once the details mentioned by you are verified, you will receive your PAN card in 2 days (48 hours).

Note:

It may be noted that obtaining or possessing more than one PAN is against the law and may attract a penalty up to Rs 10,000 under section 272B.
